A little over a year ago, something momentous happened in my life: HarperCollins published my debut novel. It was the culmination of eight years’ work learning to write fiction. The most joyous part of that experience was sharing it with the many people who helped me along the way. Today, I get to do so again as I celebrate the release of The Island Deception, the sequel to The Rogue Retrieval.
I’m exceptionally proud of this book, and I’m grateful to the many people who made it possible.
The Publishing Team
A number of people made it their business to bring my book to the world. I would like to thank:
- My editor, David Pomerico, for his sharp editorial eye and continued support. He put in the hard work and challenged me to make this a great book.
- My copy editors, Christine Langone and Beth Attwood, who continue to teach me grammar and punctuation.
- My publicists, Caroline Perny, Maria Silva, and Gena Lanzi, for helping my books reach a wider audience.
- My agent, Paul Stevens, for his constant support and career guidance. Most people don’t even get to hear about the things he does for me, but I know and appreciate all of them.
My Critique Partners and Writing Groups
The writing community is hands-down my favorite part of this business. Special thanks to my friends in The Clubhouse, Codex Writers, the Pitch Wars community, and Impulse Authors Unite. These groups are quite special to me because they’re how I came to meet my critique partners. Every writer needs critique partners, and I’ve been blessed with several.
Dannie Morin and Mike Mammay critiqued ISLAND in near-record time and helped me make it a much better book.
Family, Friends, and Readers
My family, friends, and colleagues have become the most ardent supporters of my writing. They not only tolerate my hobby, but make it fun. It means so much to me that these people are interested in my book simply because I wrote it.
Last but not least, I’m grateful to my readers for taking another trip through the gateway to Alissia. I hope it was everything you wanted, and more. Without you, there would be no book #2. Thank you for being part of my dream.
